There is no way that hockey card collecting will be relevant in 10 years. I was about as big into hockey cards as could be in the 90s, and was on the internet (rec.collecting.sport.hockey newsgroup) before 95% of collectors. But kids nowadays don't want little expensive pieces of cardboard, they want shiny things that are interactive. The only way that it could go on is if certain influencers take a liking to the hobby, which is why Pokemon and basketball (and football, to an extent) cards are so relevant today.

All I know is that the Beckett magazine price for vintage cards is a joke. Most of the vintage cards pre-1970 you can't touch for what Beckett has them listed. Prices have gone up. Something is driving the prices higher.

The free market. eBay is the most honest market value there is for something.

Nothing from nothing, but even in the 90's kids didn't want the cards. Watched so many kids at card shows opening packs looking for metallic cards or jersey cards and throwing away the rest without even looking at them. It's what made me stop collecting...well that and I paid more back then putting together full sets of Pro Set than they're worth now. Hell, even a PSA 9 Upper Deck Jagr rookie is worth about 2 packs of cigarettes now lol
